British fashion seller will get its Vegas on in new shop - Las Vegas Business Press

Monday, March 05, 2012 By LAURA CARROLL

Call it British fashion with a Vegas flair.

On March 8, Topshop/Topman is scheduled to open a Las Vegas flagship store inside the Fashion Show mall, making it the first location in Southern Nevada for the British-based line.

Look for the premiere of Vegas-inspired designs that include sequin-encrusted dresses, classic suit styles for men and a new sparkly nail polish color. Think tailoring reminiscent of Frank Sinatra and women's styles that evoke the glamour girls of old Vegas.

The 20,000-square-foot location will feature private shopping suites and complimentary personal shopping services to any customer with a booked appointment. Topshop/ Topman is owned by the privately held Arcadia Group.

Watch for company executives to don their running shoes and shorts this spring.

The 2012 City of Las Vegas Corporate Challenge is upon us once again, and in its 27th year, shouldn't disappoint.

We hear Steve Moster, the president of Global Experience Specialists, is planning to compete in the 5K for his company. A runner, Moster just might leave other execs in his dust.

On a side note, Moster also is a fan of the Apple brand, so if you're looking to distract him during his run, you might have some success talking about the Apple announcement coming March 7.

"At the end of the day, the product itself is pretty amazing. The technology is one thing but the design is fantastic all the way down to the packaging. There's a lot of attention to detail that goes into their products," Moster said.

Lindamood-Bell Learning Processes, a center that helps students with reading comprehension issues, wants to open a Henderson location but is seeking community input before it moves forward. The privately owned company already operates a center at 10655 Park Run Drive.

In its effort to see if another Southern Nevada venture would be fruitful, Lindamood-Bell is slated to host a community input night at 6 p.m. March 6 at the Foothills Montessori School, 1401 Amador Lane.

Word is the new location would be open seasonally when school is in session.

At least one downtown joint already is getting a boost from the mob.

The Mob Museum could not have opened at a better time for Michelle Dell, owner of Hogs & Heifers, the Third Street tavern known for its biker rallies and collection of bras from women who've danced on the bar. Dell, who splits time between Las Vegas and her original Hogs & Heifers in New York City, said the slowest time of the year is from December, after the National Finals Rodeo, to about mid-March, when the weather allows for outdoor barbecues and live bands.

The museum, a half-block from Hogs & Heifers, already is bringing business to her bar, Dell said.
